Here's my recording from my recent visit out to Telluride.  I really enjoyed the show and wished it never would have ended.  It just seemed like everyone was getting loosened up and some type of curfew kicked in @ 2:30 am.  Lots of special guests.  I wish the last group would have been able to play longer together, which included Sutton, Fleck, Drew Emmit and Jeff Austin among some others.  I had 2 highlight of the evening.  One was the last song where Thile and Sutton jumped into the crowd and played unamplified.  It was awesome.  The second was when the group called Vasen (from Sweden) came out and played 3 songs with the boys.  Fantastic sound.  And all the guys from Vasen were at least a foot taller and anyone from PB.  They were giants.  The improv Chris had with Bela was great too.

Ed Helms joined in for a few songs and even joined in the Chris Eldridge Quartet with Luke Bula and another friend named Jake Tylove on mando from NYC.  Jake apparently went to school with Ed Helms and had a band called Roundup.  I've never heard of him, but I'm not in the loop either.

If I had to pick a favorite song for the evening, it would probably have to be Two Hearted with Vasen.  Just so happens to be my favorite beer too!

I almost got to stay for the secret squirrel jam session after the show with all the greats from the Festival.  They kicked me out at 3:45 am.

If anyone knows the names of some of the instruments, please let me know and I will update the .txt file.  I'll try to attached some .mp3 clips to help out.

I took some HD video and shot some photos too.  I haven't even pulled them off the camera yet since we just got back from out vacation and work beckons.

Drop me a line and I'll see if I can get you a copy if interested.

Wow, this sounds epic! Is it kosher for a lurker and relative newbie around here to request...? If not, I won't. Either way, I really loved just reading about it and seeing the pics.  Smiley

Is the dude in that one picture playing a nyckelharpa? I just saw the boys' show at Caramoor this past weekend, and one of the other performers was a nyckelharpa player named Sandra Wong. It was my first encounter with that instrument, but it produced some strange and beautiful sounds.

Jake Tilove, I hadn't heard of him either, I just found him through some googling. Did you know the school in common is Oberlin? Where Critter went also.

That is a nyckelharpa.  THat guy was awsome.  I saw Vasen play in the Town Park at Telluride and he explained all about the instrument.  Very neat.  I recorded that show too, but have a feeling it didn't turn out very well due to the high winds.

Check you PM for the recording.

I've not yet had the pleasure of seeing Vasen, but I've been listening to them for a long time. In addition to their own music, which is  wonderful, their recent album with Mike Marshall and Darol Anger is fantastic. The idea of them playing with Punch Brothers is very exciting - I can't wait to hear it!

Saw Vasen with Mike Marshall and Darol Anger last year.  Mesmerizing show.  Seeing Punch Bros./Vasen on one stage would probably just about send me into outer space... Grin

Amongst the porn posting, maybe someone will see this.  I updated 4 of the "instrumental" tracks I had listed with their real names.  Still working on 1 more.

Hey, great photos. Thile and the boys sure know how to put on a good show. Any chance I could get a copy of this set, please?
